Smoochy Dreams Can Come True - Part 1

Disclaimer: Not mine. I just play with them.
Dedication: Who else? The maniacs in charge of the list and responsible for brainwashing so many of us. They're like a fun version of RTC. To Merc, for the half hour conversations that consist of us screaming "Steph and Chris! OH MY GOD!" at each other. And to falln, for converting Merc. (You gotta come down and visit gurlie!)
Notes: I don't actually have access to the Internet, so I typed this up at home and gave Merc the disk. That's why it's coming from whichever email address she uses. Hopefully she'll post it as it is, but I know this gal and it's doubtful. Anyways, this is the result of a rather amusing late night phone call in which I spent half an hour messing with a drunken Merc's mind. (It's not as easy as it sounds)

"Steph!" Lita barged into her friends dressing room. "Why aren't you ready? The bus is ready to go!"

"I'm not going."Stephanie replied. Lita raised an eyebrow and put her hands on her hips. "What the hell? You have to! Why not? And if you tell me you have nothing to wear then I'll.. I'll.. I'll do something so bad, I don't even know what it is yet!"

Stephanie laughed at her friends enthusiasm. "I just don't feel like spending the night watching Jeff come up with 1001 excuses to interrupt you and Matt in a dark corner."

"Oh come on! You've barely been out since Hunter got injured." Lita protested. Stephanie sighed. "You're not going to give up are you?"

"Not likely. Besides, Chris told me that if I came back to the bus alone, then he wasn't gonna let me on it." Lita smirked. Steph rolled her eyes. "Fine! Just let me change."

"No time!" Lita grabbed her wrist. "That blue dress is fine! Let's go!"

Stephanie looked doubtful, but Lita had dragged her out the door before she could do anything about it.

"It's about time!" shouted Rob Van Dam as they climbed on the bus. Lita flipped him a 'Stone Cold Salute' as she settled into the seat Matt had saved for her. Stephanie looked down the bus for a seat, as Chris Jericho waved to her from the back, pointing at the only empty seat on the bus. Grinning, she madeher way down the back, where he was sitting with Edge, Christian and an unfamilar brunette.

"Heya Steph." Christian greeted her as Chris started ticking Stephanie as she squeezed past him to get to her seat. "Hi Christian. Damnit Jericho, don't touch what you can't afford!"

"Aw, I love you too Steph." He teased, ruffling her hair. She hit him on the arm. "Hey! That hurt!"

"It was meant to!" Steph replied, muttering under her breath. "Assclown."

"Tramposaurus Rex." Chris answered. They grinned at each other affectionately. Unlike their on screen personas, the duo really did get along rather well. Stephanie often said that she enjoyed trading insults with Chris, because she could be certain that he didn't mean any of it and if he did mean it, he'd probably already said it to her backstage.

"So what's with the bus?" asked the brunette.

"About 2 years ago, we had a post PPV celebration. One of the girls - a non drinker - drove home, not realising that some so called friends had spiked her drink. Luna had a fairly severe accident, the result of which she'd never wrestle again. After that, the Boy Wonder and the Little Boss Lady decided that the buses were the way to go. Hey Steph glad you could make it." Edge made it through the explantion and greeting without taking a breath.

Stephanie leaned over Chris and Christian, interupting their thumb wrestling match. "Hi, I'm Stephanie. Obviously."

"I'm Danae. The new member of the booking staff." She leaned over and shook Stephanie's hand. "You're not mad about the pie thing are you?"

"Nope. I would've liked to have known that it was coming, but I doubt I could react the same way. I'd have been expecting it and be cringing away or something."

Danae nodded. "My friends and I used to sit around watching Raw and say things like 'Oh did you see the look on his face then? He wasn't expecting that!' It was expected of course and deep down we knew it, but believing that just made it a little more real."

"Especially considering some of us are such crappy actors." Chris said, throwing a piece of bumbblegum at Test, who gave it to Molly Holly in the seat opposite him. The bus arrived at the club then, preventing any further conversation and saving Chris from being attacked by screwed up candy wrappers.

Danae sat back in her chair and watched her co workers. They certainly were an intimidating bunch when they all got together. And there were definitely a lot more of them than she had first realised. This was insane. And she was loving every minute of it.

"Whatcha doin?" A familiar voice invaded her thoughts. Danae grinned. "Mentally writing a tell all expose."

"That's not nice." pouted Chris. Danae rolled her eyes. "Where on Earth do people get the misconception that I'm nice? Now go ask Stephanie to dance, she's been abandoned again."

Looking over, Chris saw that Lita and Matt were in a dark corner, being annoyed by Jeff and that Stephanie had indeed been abandoned. "You win. But as soon as a good song comes on."

Danae merely smirked at him as a new song came on. Chris shook his head and headed over to where Stephanie was sitting. She nodded and they made their way out to the dance floor. Danae got out her mobile phone. Chris and Stephanie dancing together to Uncle Crackers 'Follow Me.' Her twin sister was going to freak.
